Why are mobile phone companies creating stalker devices?

It seems as though the mobile phone companies are more interested in creating phones that operate as a stalking device these days. If you are using an Android phone with the Google Latitude on their Maps application, then you always know where your Latitude friends are physically located. Why does the government not restrict what these mobile phone manufacturers and service providers are selling?|||The are NOT. You are getting your information from 'reporters' that don't have a clue what they are talking about. ALL of the 'tracking' is 100% VOLUNTARY. If you don't what people to know where you are, you don't have to sign up to TELL them. It is none of the governments business to prevent someone from buying ANY service.|||No one is required to use the application or add anyone as a friend on it. It's their own choice to give that information.

I bought a smartphone partly BECAUSE of that feature. It makes traveling easier.
