I am having problems with a mobile phone, where can I find the governments view on what a warranty is?

I have a broken mobile phone and the company will not fix it due to physical damage. I believe its due to bad design and or wear and tear. The product is less than six months old. What are they obilged to do legally?|||I guess they are arguing tht the damage was not accidental as most normally replace the phone or repair it in such cases.Unfortunatly the onus is on you to prove tht it was accidental.Try trading standards website or phone them.Have they said something like if you send it in we will look at it but if we think it was your fault and not down to poor manufacture or accidental then you will have to pay the cost of repair if they have then I would consider this option or suggest it to them. The law does state however tht any goods sold by a company must be of merchantable quality and be fit for the job they are intended, it doesnt give any time periods for or how long this applies.|||If you've damaged it, they are probably not liable. Check your house contents insurance. If you have comprehensive all risks cover they may sort it out. Otherwise go to Citizens Advice. It's free. Good luck.
